Description
Tropical Queensland Series by Lexa Harpell.
When you venture into a tropical rain forest, expect to get wet!
Dappled sun rays find their way through the dense foliage canopy followed with short consistent spurts of warm tropical rain.
Mossman Gorge sits the in southern section of the Daintree National Park in Far North Queenland's Wet Tropics - a short drive from Port Douglas.
A fast flowing river of crystal clear water runs through the boulders in the steep sided gorge. then eases as it pools in large flat areas - creating a swimming hole to dip you body in the cool waters - a relief in the humidity of the Wet Tropics.
This small 'Secret Space' is not so easy to find - hidden off the track on the opposite side of the main river - I found it by chance. It feels as though you have walked into a secret, magical place where silence is in order.
Kicking off my boots, I walked into the pristine waters fully clothed and slowly emerged myself in the magic. I had the place all to myself! Lush foliage, moss covered rocks, coarse sand under foot and the sweet, clear water.
The indigenous residents of Mossman Gorge are mainly from the Eastern Yalanji people (Bama) Clan
Mossman Gorge is part of the traditional lands from the Eastern Yalanji people (Bama) Clan - with many indigenous people living in the area.
