Description
A loosely woven ball of rushes/straw sometimes appeared in Irish homes.
I've been told many differing meanings for this ball, yet the St Brigid's Cross was made out of rushes and hung in the home believed to ward off evil, hunger and fire from the household. It may well have the same meaning.
