The Great South Wall in Dublin's harbour, and Poolbeg Chimneys.
The chimneys were doomed to be demolished, yet there was a huge outcry to preserve them as they are one of Dublin's icons. You look for these chimneys when entering the port and watch them loom towards you.
The wall was built to solve the problematic sandbars to the entrance of Dublin's Port and completed in 1795, running 4kms into the harbour from Ringsend.
May locals today walk the length of the wall to fish around the lighthouse.
