Description
Traditionally made from Willow or Poplar. Klompen or Clogs were used as protective footwear in The Netherlands. Highly effective when worn in the rain and water puddles. Usually brightly coloured with traditional motif designs painted on the front area.
Amsterdam based fashion house Viktor and Rolf introduced high heeled clogs to the catwalk in 2007.
Different forms of wooden 'clogs' were worn throughout Europe, yet the Dutch preferred to whole foot wooden clogs.
