Description
Making Tracks in Dunes of Uluru by Lexa Harpell.
Central Australia is flat, very flat! Apart from a random majestic rock formation rising out of the earth that takes your breath away- and occasional sand dune mound.
Almost devoid of trees of substantial height, the landscape is covered in low desert grasses and plants. Somehow surviving in the most nutrient-deficient soil on the planet filled with iron, rusted iron - producing that iconic rich orange-red soil Australia is renowned for.
The long days of driving along straight stretches of roads through 'nothingness' is calming, meditative or boring (depends on your perspective) - a lone tree snaps you out of your state temporarily - so you pull over and take the shot and stand it wonder of Central Australia's utter raw beauty.
Even on overcast days, the light in Central Australia can be bright, illuminating the landscape's vibrant colours.
