Description
Napoleonic-era Signal Tower at Twilight by Lexa Harpell.
This 19th century signal Tower sits on the North Atlantic coastline near Slieve League on the west coast of Ireland.
Around 80 towers - about 13kms apart were built in the early 1800's along Ireland's coastline. They were used to send signals along the coast during the Napoleonic-era.
Not all have survived the weathering of time, although many have been restored to their former glory to stand as sentinels looking out to the sea.
