Description
Tropical Queensland Series by Lexa Harpell.
When you venture into a tropical rain forest, expect to get wet!
Dappled sun rays find their way through the dense foliage canopy followed with short consistent spurts of warm tropical rain.
Mossman Gorge sits the in southern section of the Daintree National Park in Far North Queenland's Wet Tropics - a short drive from Port Douglas.
A fast flowing river of crystal clear water runs over the large granite boulders in the steep sided gorge. The large boulders have been washed down from the hills during high flooding.
In one area, the river eases as it pools in large flat areas - creating a swimming hole to dip you body in the cool waters - a relief in the humidity of the Wet Tropics.
The gorge is surrounded by lush tropical plants and trees where you can walk along several short tracks and soak in its beauty.
Mossman Gorge is part of the traditional lands from the Eastern Yalanji people (Bama) Clan - with many indigenous people living in the area.
