Description
There are more castles per square mile in Belguim than anywhere else in the world.
Ok, technically this is a palace, yet it is a fascinating piece of information!
The Royal Palace of Brussels sits right in the middle of Belguim in the front of Brussels Park, separating the two with a very wide road!
It is the official palace for the King and Queen of Brussels, although they do not use it as a residence - prefering the Royal Palace of Laeken.
The palace has had many changes of the centuries. The original site for the Coudenberg Palace - which dates back to the middle ages 11-12th centuries. The current facade was only built in 1904 in the Neoclassical Style.
You will see the guards march to and from their sentry posts each day and the palace is opened to the public once a year.
