Description
Sea Cliffs of Slieve League by Lexa Harpell.
Slieve League (Sliabh Liag) is a spectacular mountain of sea cliffs on the North Atlantic coast in County Donegal, Ireland.
Standing almost three times the height (at 2,000 feet) of the Cliffs of Moher - yet lesser known to the throung of tourists.
The views are majestic as you walk up the road and steepish hills to witness this particular view.
Some of the brave souls hike to the narrow summit that has sheer drops on either side of the rather narrow path. I decided to give that a big miss!! Strong winds can whip up in a moments notice and I found myself crawling on all fours along at one stage - it felt much safer to be lower to the ground!!!
As with all landscapes the changing colours are brilliant through the seasons.
This was taken in October - Autumn - when to green grasses and plants begin to turn orange to rust.
To get an idea of the size of Slieve League - see the tiny boat in the bottom left corner ot the image. By boat is also a brilliant way to see the cliffs from another perspective. A small fishing type boat leave the dock from Ti Linn which takes you around the bays of the base of the cliffs.
