Description
It was a wild, wet and windy day on Inisheer (Inis Oirr) in the Arron Islands, Ireland which added to the drama of visiting a shipwreck!
Many times I had to shelter inside the shipwreck until the weather eased!
In 1960, the steam trawler MV Plassy met with a severe storm whilst sailing through Galway Bay and ran aground on Finnis Rock, Inisheer, Aran Islands.
The Atlantic coast is known for its wild weather and just two weeks later another storm rose and washed the trawler onto the shore.
Carrying a cargo of whisky, yarn, stained glass. One of the locals told me they were able to seize 'toilets' (of all things) in the wreckage.

The stories this ship could tell...sorry they couldn't rescue the whiskey and the stained glass..but they saved the toilets! G+
