Balancing Act – Karlu Karlu – Devils Marbles, Northern Territory.
Take the time to wander around and marvel at this natural rock phenomenon area. This is one of the many granite boulder clusters scattered in this relatively small area.
This reserve sits about 105kms south of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory, Australia.
A deep spiritual and cultural place to the Aboriginals of the area – known to them as Karlu Karlu – meaning ‘Round Boulders’.
Named by Europeans as the ’ Devils Marbles’ when John Ross from the Austrlaian Overland Telegraph Expidition in 1870 said “This is the Devil’s country; he’s even emptied his bag of marbles around the place!”
