Description
Churches of the World by Lexa Harpel.
Think 'Dracular - this abbey inspired Bram Stoker!!
Sitting on top of a hill overlooking the North Sea, lies the gorgeous Whitby Abbey.
It also became a landmark for sailors.
Rich in history, founded in 657AD and destroyed by Henry Vlll with the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Shelled by the German battlecruiser in 1914. It still stands.
It is a sight to see day or night as it is flood lit and can be seen for miles around.
