Description
Gums on the Murray by Lexa Harpell.
Winter sunrise touching the Murray Gums.
The Murray River is the longest river in Australia, 2508 kms in length and winding its way through three states.
This makes the Murray the 3rd longest navigable river on this gorgeous planet.
Large Murray River gums are an iconic sight along its banks, drinking their fill of water fro the river.
Australia has over 2,400 different types of Gum Trees – varying in colours and sizes.
They have learned to sustain in the harshest conditions around the country.
The Gum Trees which grow on the banks of the Murray River in South Australia receive plenty of water from the river to grow into large robust trees –
unlike the famous Ghost Gums of Central Australia which receive very little water year round.
