Description
Lichen Covered Outback Wreck by Lexa Harpell.
I've seen many car wrecks in the Australian Outback corroded in vibrant colours - yet NEVER had I seen one also covered in a white lichen!
This hardened white lichen grows on the granite rocks in South Australia in spectacular designs, yet somehow make its way to the rusted old car.
This particular lichen takes between 6 months to 2 years to grow usually in circular patterns and is quite hard to the touch.

very cool, I do wonder why people abandon cars in strange places like this
Lexa Harpell replied:
This car was on a farm where they don't take old machinery to a tip. In the outback, mostly if a car breaks down, it is just abandoned as the cost is astronomical to have it towed to a town. There is a variety of reasons. Thank you Jerry ! L:)
