After hiking for a few hours you come to the plateau under the majestic Cradle Mountain summit.
Renown Cradle Mountain in Tasmania is a major tourist destination. Surrounded by lakes with many glorious walks from one hour to 10 hours around the lakes and mountains.
Or the famous 6 day hike on the Overland Track trek from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair National Park.

View from Marion's Lookout with Dove Lake.
*In a region that has been subjected to severe glaciation, these parks and reserves, with their steep gorges, covering an area of over 1 million ha, constitute one of the last expanses of temperate rainforest in the world.
Remains found in limestone caves attest to the human occupation of the area for more than 20,000 years.
Named by Joseph Fossey in 1826, as it looked like a gold mining cradle.
Towering to 1,459 metres.
This national park consists of several mountains and lakes, including Dove Lake and Crater Lake. *UNESCO site...
People come from around the world to explore and walk/hike the multiple tracks. From one hour to several days hike to Lake St Clair.
An 8 hour return journey to the summit - rock scrambling and climbing towards the end! Not for the faint hearted, yet the views from the summit are spectacular! OK so I had a bit of a cry about 100mts from the summit - an overhang proved quite difficult - I am not a rock climber as such!!!
Being a mountain range, the weather can change rapidly, without notice, so come prepared for all conditions!!
