Description
MONA Museum of Old and New Art!
World class and sometimes controversial, this museum/art gallery holds the vast private collection of Tasmanian David Walsh.
Artwork is always subjective, it is supposed to be! Would you remember a row of insipid realistic paintings? ummm hardly.
Some pieces will push your boundaries, some will fascinate you, some will delight your eyes. Love or hate this collection, it WILL make you think and it WILL create conversations. Thats artits job is done.
Whatever your thoughts, it is a diverse collection of art and museum pieces to inspire and admire.
Situated on the River Derwent in Hobart, Tasmania, arriving by boat is preferable as the building in itself is a gran piece of art.
Burrowed and cut into the landscapes sandstone. It is all underground, cut into the sandstone. It is a brilliant piece of artwork in itself! I was mesmerised for hours at the beautiful architecture.

MONA is a fascinating place - the private collection of one man - David Walsh. (Fascinating story of how he made his money!) The building itself is sculptured into the sandstone rock face on the river in Hobart.

Bad Ass ART!!! Loving this one - it keeps changing on me every time I see the thumb...I've been purposely not clicking on it - finally had to do it. First time I saw this, it looked like it was submerged in a red liquid (like thin blood) the reflection giving it the illusion of transparency... loved that!! The next time I saw this I focused on the designs on this guy.. his story tattooed on him, maybe... maybe oriental.. but what about the suggestion of brains on his head?! (LOL!!) .. maybe a beloved martyred son of the city or country... I can see that kind of tribute -- awesome stuff!! So finally -- I had to go ahead and click on the thumb-nail and see what this captivating piece of artwork was about! Right - not much info on the piece itself - leaving us up to our own devices to figure it out! OK that's fine ~ but now I know who did it and I that I'm on a quest to discover this artist David Walsh ---- It was fun eyeing this piece and letting the imagination run with it! Excellent capture, Lexa!!!
