The leader of this mob of Wild Brumbies of the Australian Snow Mountains stands alert waiting to protect his mob.
The younger horse cowers under the leader's head when I approached as if to say' Protect me'. Incredibly fascinating watching the personalities, dynamics of the mob and 'pecking order'.
Although one must remember they are 'wild' animals and they will gladly kill you or another creature if they feel threatened in any way. Since these shots, I learned of many horror stories where they have killed other horses and tried to kill humans...Phew, glad I knew this before the facts, otherwise I would not have dared to caputre these brumbies on camera.
It's difficult to find and capture an image of these brumbies. After quite a while I finally got the chance. Kicking up dust in the afternoon light.
Their flesh is scared from running through the bush.
