Description
Magical Ireland Series by Lexa Harpell.
The small coastal town of Glencolmcille on the Wild Atlantic Way tourism road in County Donegal, Ireland has many hidden treasures.
I spent 4 fascinating months absorbing the culture, scenery and met many interesting people from around the globe and locals.
People come to hike, paint, learn Gaelic and play music. Interestingly, many people find themselves drawn to the town and many stay far longer than expected - this is part of the 'magic' of the place.
The local population is around 600 - during summer months, the town swells to over 3,000 people - mostly attending the Gaelic school. For one week, the best of the Donegal Fiddle players come to town to teach 'fiddle' to people from around the world.
Hike to Slieve League, beautiful beach of Silver Strand, Beffan Mountain, Glenlough...
Explore the many portal tombs and standing stones in the area.
View from Dooeys looking over the beach and Beefan Mountain.
